Planning for the new arrival is a joyous time filled with hopes and dreams and so many choices – it can be almost overwhelming when you set out to decorate the nursery and chose the absolutely perfect baby and crib bedding, especially if you don’t know the gender of your child. Still there are many things you can do to make sure that whatever décor you decide upon your baby will be safe and comfortable.
If you are using a newer but previously owned crib you will still want to invest in a new crib mattress. Use a mattress protector to cover the crib mattress; you will then need a fitted crib sheet which is much like the fitted bottom sheet of a standard bed. Most crib ensembles include a crib skirt which is like a bed skirt, a fitted crib sheet and one or more crib bumpers.
When choosing a crib ensemble it’s a good idea to see what else is offered in the collection so you can create a perfectly coordinated nursery if you wish. Some standard nursery accessories include window panels, curtains, diaper stackers, mobiles, table lamps, wall and hall sconces and area rugs. Decorative mobiles and music boxes are also common, as are night lights and wallpaper borders or stencils.
